Floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters… yet the true disasters are not in the material things of life. It is in the person.

The sick feeling that no one cares, insecurity, confusion as to the next hour or day. Not next month. That’s too far away. Fear of no shelter, no food, no money, no job and fear of unknowing. There are good and bad people. You do not know who to trust so you trust no one. These are some of the things homeless individuals feel.

The parents have even greater fears. The next hour, day, week, month become involved not for themselves but for their children. School, clothes, social, sport activities: these come into being. Worry for yourself as a homeless person is hard. Worry as a parent is many times worse.

O.D.M. is successful in many lives day by day and often for a person’s lifetime. That means they get on their feet and are never homeless again. Case work in helping a person or family begins with showing someone success is possible. Hope and responsibility start now. Help is needed and available. I have donors who send a relative to us because they know we care and put that care into action. Why? Because you and I love them.

Help take away their fear and replace it with hope. Your financial support and volunteering are essential.

The City turned us down for a Community Development Block Grant because we are a Christian organization. According to a city employee (Heidi) no money was given to Colorado by the government for religious organizations as the news stated. Christian organizations evidently are not recognized and religious grants by the government are phony according to her.

As always, it’s back to the people – YOU. Please ask your friends, relatives, company, group and church to get involved. God bless Emanuel, Timberline and Evangelical Free Churches and others, but we need many more to start supporting on a regular basis.

In Christ,
Rev. Thebo

What is PRAYER and how does it work?

It is the phone line.  It is the Open Door: First to communicate, then to let God in to go to work.  Yet most of the time it is Him in the form of YOU.

Open Door Mission prays for all of its donors and all other prayer requests.

New West Fest was a time of friendship and P.R. work.  Now as we look at our finances, I see the distress signals going up.  This is a prayer and request in a very distressful way.  Please!  Help us keep on helping others.  This summer has been a terrible time.  More hurting people than before.  Over 150 meals a day.  Forty five to fifty staying over night.  Over 50 per day in our Day Center.  Hurting, homeless, hungry people.  Men, women, children.  They’ll break your heart.  Please! Help even more.  Tell your friends.  Come and see.  I am not ashamed to plead for the homeless.

Please.  We need your financial help even more.

Text Box: Outstanding Board Member for August
Mike Daley: Volunteers his time as Christian 12 Step Recovery director, sets his personal time aside if in town (Engineer on Burlington Northern Railroad). But this year he also worked with Rev Thebo at New West Fest Saturday and Sunday and even came from job to help without getting any sleep for many hours and his uncle was dying of leukemia in Wyoming (in a coma). Work, heartache, tiredness, he had them all but still helped out. You are great Mike! We love you!
Text Box: In Isaiah 1:16-19, certain words and statements stand out so clearly:
Cease to do evil- selfishness is wrong, seek judgment. Are we doing things right?
Relieve the oppressed- Help the homeless and hurting.
	Help the fatherless.
Plead for the widow- Do all you can for both genders.
Let us reason together- Let’s work together to do these things.

If you be willing and obedient (that is donation of prayers, money, self) ye shall eat the good of the land. You will be blessed.

The more I do the more I have to do. The homeless and hurting are always with us, but not the same ones. Caring for others is not a choice. It is our responsibility. But let us continue to improve in what and how we do it.

Life is a battle and we who are stronger must help those who are weaker be stronger. Oh, but what a blessing.
