The Year of Restoration 2007

We are going beyond paying utilities, rent and other bills. We are going and have already started to restore the vital parts of the poor and lost. Poor in body, mind and spirit. How? By seeking out the real reason for shut offs and shut outs. Many are lost because of alcohol and lost due to loss of job or loss of hope.
Lost hope gains depression. Failed marriage gains distrust. These are just a few of the things that can cause homelessness, shiftlessness, irresponsibility, and rebellion.
After over 29 years of working with hurting people I say it is time to put more than a band aid on a wound. It is time to dig out the real infection. This is a very tedious job. It means concentrating on what caused the problems and finding a way to solve it. It means dealing even more with the person and not just a temporary fix. Each person is different, each answer may be possibly working with an individual longer and closer.
I would rather see one person get solidly on their feet then ten people temporarily. We put several people in their own business, helped restore self-confidence. Restored and repaired relationships, when they have hated each other. Drug addicts have been delivered but this is not enough. Anyone can open a shelter and feed the hungry but that is not enough. Open Door Mission is not your everyday shelter. It is a life changing shelter. It is the year of restoration. It is an exciting year, and you donor partner are part of putting life in the lifeless, hope into the hopeless, jobs to the jobless, transportation to start again. This means helping to get licenses reinstated so the person can drive to work when a job is impossible to get to. A huge task for you and I, but Philippians 4:13 is just as much for today as it was approximately 2000 years ago. “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Together.

In 1993 we moved to 316 Jefferson and began purchasing the building in 1994. These were the foundations of Open Door Mission, an outreach of Full Spirit Ministries.
Others too numerous to name also helped.
For the others are YOU.

God Bless you and now on to bigger and even better ways of helping the homeless and poor.

Your servant in Christ.
Rev. R. Thebo CEO/Pres.

For you have been called to live in freedom—not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love.  For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:13&14

Dear brother and sisters, if another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.  And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.  Share each other’s troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
